Yesterday was a good day for me.Â At my usual friday technical affiliation something AWSOME happened…After lunch I walked into my supervisor’s office to talk about what I was to do next.Â Next thing I know, she is offering me a job at the facility.Â They are so impressed with me and the work I do, that they are going to hire me as a health data analyst (hopefully HR will approve ).Â SO GOOD LUCK TO ME!!!!

Long time no write

I have been extremely busy in the past month, haven’t had time for Alex, much less a blog (LOL). Anyways, Max, our kitten, has been sick. He has some neurological problems going on and all the vets seem to be interested in is how much money they can get us for. A-holes.School has been interesting and boring at the same time. We also have some drama going on, we all feel like we’re back in high school. Hopefully, once I get a handle on my workload, I will be able to write more. For now, only time will tell…

Addendum to our Landlord being a jerk

In my about Me page, I wrote that our landlord turned out to be jerk. Well, we have come across new information that might change things. As it turns out, our landlord is actually a good friend of my oldest Uncle. They have been friends since they were in high school. What a small world. Along with this, we found out that around the time we had problems with him, his father had died, which explains his behavior. So here’s the change to that information: Our landlord is not a jerk and we love our apartment!

Technical Affiliation

Part of my school load this semester involves a technical affiliation. This is where I go into a hospital HIM (Health Information Management) department and participcate in all the bitch work I will be managing when I graduate. Oh what fun. So far, I have had two sessions and I have filed, assembled medical records and sat for 8 hours watching people analyzing records. To those of you not in the HIM field, you probably have no idea what I’m taking about. Assembly of a medical record, involves organizing the different forms in a medical record in a particular order, dictated by the health care facility, (forms include discharge summaries, consults, operating reports, etc.). After assemebly, there comes coding (coding the diagnosis and procedures codes for billing), abstracting (summarizing the data in the chart), and analysis (analyzing all the records in the chart to make sure they meet all requirements, making sure all doctors have signed, and looking for missing forms).

Anyways, enough technical information.Â I have new found respect for the employees in an HIM dept.Â I could not imagine doing analysis 5 days a week, all year long.Â No way, I’d go crazy.Â But I guess that’s why I will manage and not actually do the bitch work…

New phone arrives…Alex gets jealous

Today, my new Motorola RAZR arrived! WHOOHOO!!!! It’s even prettier in person, lol. It has a lot of cool features and buttons to play with. One of my favorite is that you can record your own ringtones. I know that a lot of other phones can have that feature, but this is the first phone that I have used that allows me to do that. Alex has already made his own ringtone! There are also cool things you can do with pictures that you take. Anyways, I can’t wait to use my new phone!

School, yet again

Tomorrow is my first day back to school after a nice long winter break. My program has a pretty cool feature, there’s only 20 of us. There used to be 23, but 3 dropped from the program. I’m anxious to get back to school and actually have work to do. I hate just sitting on my butt all day, it’s nice, but I feel like a slug.This semester is going to be harder than last. I have less classes, thank g-d, but I have more intense classes, including coding. For those not familiar with the Health care field, coding can be extermely difficult. Every time you go to a doctor, or have a medical procedure, there is someone behind the scenes coding your medical charts and claims so they can be sent out to the insurance company and be paid appropriately. Think of coding as a numerical medical language that is used to communicate between doctors, hospitals, and insurance companies. The mistake of one number can mean big trouble, most insurance companies pay depending on what codes are submitted. Not only do you have to have the proper codes, but you need to make sure you have the proper medical documentation to back it up, in case the insurance company does not believe you. In essence, treating patients and billing for patient care is hard, complicated, and can leave you in a lot of legal trouble if not careful.

Anyways, I’m a little nervous because we have technical affiliations this semester. Basically, every Friday, us students go out to different hopsitals around the city and get hands on experience in the health information management field. I have Loyola hospital, which I am extactic about. I’m nervous, though, because it will be only me. No other students will be there with me and I’ll be working with actual patient charts.

Fun with Bobby and Mandy

Tonight (or, rather last night), Alex and I went to hang out with one of my best friends Bobby and his girl, Mandy.Â Yes, that’s right Mandy.Â Bobby and I have known each other for almost a year now and I have to say he is one of the most awesome people I know.Â Before I met Alex, Bobby and I would talk on the phone for at least 3-4 hours a day.Â Don’t ask me what we talked about, we just talked.Â Â Â Now that we both have significant others, we rarely talk or hang out.Â I miss him sometimes because he has a great sense of humor and he used to talk me to sleep most nights, I couldn’t sleep without him.Â Now I have Alex for that, but we like to hang out with the two of them.Â When we do go out, we always have a great time and laugh, a lot.

This time around, we went out to dinner and then when back to Bobby’s house.Â Alex and Bobby did computer stuff, while Mandy and I entertained ourselves watching something called Flavor of Love.Â It was a reality TV show about a guy, “Flavor”, trying to find a girlfriend or wife or something.Â It was hysterical.Â These girls were falling all over themselves for this ugly guy just because he had millions, which I’m sure happens everyday.Â It just amazes me what women do for a little attention.Â And people say body image isn’t a problem…hmmmm….

After Hours Overkill

For the wedding, we decided to go with After Hours for the tuxedos. I was able to get a really good deal from them when I bought my wedding dress and put $20 down. After the intial phone call from the store where my wedding is registered, I figured there would be no more phone calls. They called almost everday, and never left a message, just called. I kept telling them my wedding day was not until 2007 and I was not going to rent tuxedos now. For some reason they did not get the message. Eventually, Alex answered the phone and told them not to call until at least a year from now. So far, there haven’t been any more phone calls, but I’m not holding my breath. Talk about overkill, there was no reason for them to call so often.
